1. Which treatment program should come first : Mental Health treatment or Substance Abuse treatment?
It is accepted across Medical and Mental Health community that co-occurring disorders are so deeply interconnected that it is necessary to treat both issues at the same time.
2. How can Mental Health issues lead to addiction?
A common scenario occurs when a person experiences a trauma that triggers depression, anxiety, PTSD, and/or suicidal ideation. In an attempt to manage the symptoms associated with these disorders many people turn to drug and alcohol.
3.What are the non-medication methods for treating Mental Health symptoms?
Although medication plays an important role in recovery from a mental health disorder, because they aid in the management of symptoms, they are not the only option. Additional options may include, CBT, Support groups, Family Therapy, Yoga, Exercise, Nutrition change, Bodywork, and Herbal supplements.
4. How is PTSD treated
Treatment usually includes a combination of medication and Psychotherapy. CBT, Support group, Exposure Therapy and sleep aids.
5. Can drug use cause a Mental Health condition?
Yes. some drugs including synthetic drugs like LSD, crystal meth, as well as some prescription medication.
6. Can mental illness run in the family?
Yes. Genetics play a role in the development in a Mental Health disorder.
